Taurus SHO is a full-size performance sedan that is based on the Taurus that was manufactured by Ford Motor Company. The vehicle existed between 1989 and 1999. It returned for the year 2009 as a 2010 model year vehicle.

1997 Taurus SHO was redesigned and when compared to the previous versions, the new 1997 model was refined and it used less radical work. It is very much different from regular Taurus with several other wheels, seats, drive-train, and bumpers. SHO model is very less in numbers for the year 1997 and overall sales peaks at 9000 units.

For the year 1997, the vehicle got 235 hp V8 engines. A four speed transmission is used on LX trim. Option of manual gearbox was not offered on SHO. There were lots of issues concerned to engine failures. The problem was rectified after installing the welded camshafts. Engine failure was documented in about 1200 out of 20000 units. Other unofficial and undocumented cases do exist.
